Your Sunset Excursion

Le Rocher de Saint Barthélémy

Welcome to your bespoke excursion page, where you will find information about your sunset walk, as well as any photos or videos take during your activity. Enjoy!

This bespoke sunset walk begins at the Pointe de l’Observatoire in Cap Roux, a military site that was constructed during the Second World War. You’ll follow a scenic uphill route through a pine forest, with sweeping views over the Mediterranean framed by dramatic red cliffs. Arriving at the Rocher de Saint Barthélemy at sundown, you’ll witness the rock bathed in warm hues of gold and rose, and the sun gently dipping behind the Massif de l’Esterel just as the moon rises ahead of a very rare total lunar eclipse.

The Massif de l’Esterel, a striking volcanic mountain range on France’s Mediterranean coast, is known for its dramatic red rock formations, lush pine forests, and panoramic sea views.
On the evening of September 7th, the second and final total lunar eclipse of the year will take place—serving up the striking sight of a red “blood moon” in the sky across much of the world.
