French Riviera Cycling Stories

Azur Velo's blog

For more than a year, the world has been turned upside down and unpredictability has become one of the new and few constants. We have been forced to reexamine our lives, bare them down to the essential, remember what really counts and count the blessings we already have. Riding bikes is one of the simple pleasures undiminished by closed restaurants, forbidden social gatherings or mandatory masks. The experience is unique for every cyclist, but there are often common elements drawing us to this formidable sport. For me, time stands still when I ride my bike, and there are few things in this world that make me feel more alive and grateful to be alive. For as long as I can remember, cycling has been a source of great joy for me, a way to meditate and appreciate life, and an expression of freedom. Now more than ever, I hold on to this joy and find comfort in every pedal stroke. I’ve been taking more time to reflect, to appreciate, to return to the basics and be thankful for all this wonderful sport has brought me since I first fell in love with it on the streets of New York City. The places it has taken me, the people I’ve met, the joy, the suffering, the character-building moments…and all the stories. The stories that both create and capture the essence of cycling, that are shared between friends and teammates or simply recalled in solitude bringing us a satisfied smile. This blog will be dedicated to sharing those cycling stories, focusing on the positive, and cherishing all the memorable moments that can be experienced on 2 wheels.
