Build Your Custom Cycling Trip or Training Camp
If you’d like to start planning a custom cycling trip, training camp, or cycling retreat, there are just a few simple steps to follow which will help us design the perfect customized travel experience for you. Although we are always happy to discuss your trip plans, it is most practical to speak once you’ve thought about these details and given us an idea about your travel preferences and cycling goals.
Step 1: Choose your ride level & training goals
Step 2: Choose your destination(s)
Step 3: Choose your accommodations
Step 4: Choose your support, services & activities
Step 1: Choose your Ride Level & Training Goals
Please read the level descriptions below and let us know which one is best suited to you and/or your travel companions. You are welcome to choose more than one level if you’d like us to include a mix of different rides in your trip, or if you have a partner or group members with different levels. Please note that the level descriptions imply Nice and its surrounding area as the starting point, but we can organize rides corresponding to each level from any starting point in the French Riviera. If applicable, indicate your training goals on the custom trip form at the bottom of the page.
Ride Levels
Please read our ride level descriptions below so you can choose the tour that best corresponds to your level, or request we customize your itinerary with levels better suited to your group.
Level 1 rides are on the easiest routes in your tour location and are suitable for cyclists of all levels. The terrain is generally flat, rolling or there are some shorter climbs. Usually Level 1 rides are along the coast or inland in the valleys. Our more challenging tours often include one or two recovery days with Level 1 rides. 20km – 60km / Flat – 400m of climbing
Level 2 rides cover distances that take most cyclists 2-4 hours, and involve moderate climbs. Although they may start at the coast, they tend to veer inland and through the numerous perched villages scattered along the hills and mountains of the French and Italian Riviera. 40km – 80km / 300 – 700m of climbing
Level 3 rides are challenging and suitable for avid cyclists who are accustomed to long distances and difficult climbs (5 km – 20 km climbs). Routes may include several mountain passes. Level 3 rides often include the iconic climbs of our region such as the Col de la Madone, Col de Vence and the Col de Braus. 70km – 120km / 500 – 1500m of climbing
Level 4 rides are suitable for avid and/or competitive cyclists who are used to doing challenging rides of 4 to 6+ hours with significant climbing. Level 4 rides take you on the legendary cols of the Tour de France, Paris-Nice, and the Ironman Nice course, and often include several mountain passes in one ride, as well as Hors Catégorie cols. 90km – 180+km / 1500m+ – 4000m+ climbing
